Boingo Launches Free Wi-Fi at Brazil Airports

Global Leader in Wi-Fi is Bringing Seamless Connectivity to 54 Airports Across Brazil

SÃO PAULO, July 31, 2018Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ: WIFI), the leading DAS, small cells and Wi-Fi provider that serves consumers, carriers and advertisers worldwide, today announced that it is launching its award-winning Wi-Fi at 54 Brazil airports that are managed by Infraero, one of the largest operators of commercial airports in the world. Wi-Fi coverage is now live at Aeroporto de Congonhas (CGH), Aeroporto Santos-Dumont (SDU), Aeroporto Internacional de Recife (REC) and Aeroporto Internacional de Curitiba (CWB), with Boingo’s full rollout across all 54 airports to be completed by early 2020.

Boingo will build and operate the networks with Ziva, a local wireless infrastructure company in Latin America that is well-known for its flexible hardware and software solutions. The two companies were awarded the business after submitting a joint bid to Infraero.

“Infraero’s partnership with Boingo and Ziva will allow passengers to have a better experience when traveling through our airports,” said Marx Martins, director of Commercial Business, Infraero. “The new Wi-Fi solution is intended to meet the demand for fast and quality connectivity while waiting to take off.”

“Wi-Fi is now an expectation for travelers and we’re pleased to deliver this in-demand airport amenity for millions of passengers through Boingo and Ziva’s strategic relationship with Infraero,” said Marcos Ferraz, director of business development, Boingo. “Our blazing-fast Wi-Fi helps improve the passenger experience by unlocking powerful wireless connectivity, whether travelers are browsing social networks, streaming entertainment or using the airport as their mobile office. This launch is an exciting step forward in becoming the largest airport Wi-Fi provider in Latin America.”

Brazil travelers can receive fast, free Wi-Fi sponsored by advertisers, or can opt for even faster speeds by purchasing a one-day or monthly Boingo subscription. Global and Latin American brands can take advantage of the proprietary Boingo Media advertising platform to connect with passengers on the go and sponsor their free Boingo Wi-Fi sessions at Brazil airports and other large venues around the world. Brands that sponsor Boingo Wi-Fi can secure guaranteed engagement and 100 percent share of voice.

Boingo’s Wi-Fi launch also presents attractive business opportunities for wireless carriers in Brazil. With mobile data skyrocketing, forward thinking carriers can help solve the capacity crunch by moving customers off congested cellular networks and onto Boingo’s carrier-class Wi-Fi networks. In the U.S., Tier One carriers like Sprint rely on Boingo’s Wi-Fi offload product to free up much-needed network capacity, while delivering a consistent connected experience to customers.

Boingo is an eight-time winner of “Best Wi-Fi Service” in Global Traveler magazine’s GT Tested Reader Survey Awards.
